At Gwendolen Park Tennis Club, the junior development program will be designed to facilitate the long-term development of our juniors. The program is designed to bridge the gap between entry-level lessons and the provincial competitive program. This will empower participants with future options in the sport of tennis.

The progression of the junior program breaks down as such:

1st court Mini Aces - Ages 4-6 years
A beginner program designed to introduce young players to the game of tennis in a fun and exciting format. Drills and games are combined to help develop hand-eye coordination and balance while learning the basic strokes of tennis. Backhands, forehands, volleys, serves and elementary overheads are covered throughout the sessions.

2nd court Junior Aces - Ages 7-10 years
This program is sure to challenge the young player who already has some knowledge of the game and needs to work on correct stroke progression. Students will start learning the strategy of singles and doubles play. Movement, combining strokes, footwork, balance and score keeping will all be the key in the drills and games played throughout the session. Match play will be introduced later in this fun filled program.

Aces - Ages 11-13 years
The next progression in our junior program is for the advanced beginner to intermediate player. With knowledge of the game and previous experience on the court, this level will continue to work on perfecting strokes, improving footwork, agility on the court, consistency and developing a well-rounded game. Good sportsmanship, tennis etiquette and knowledge of the rules of tennis continue to be the focus. Games, drills and match play all make this an exciting format in which to have fun and learn!
